SkyTrak vs Trackman - Benefits

Launch monitors are typically used for personal game improvement, entertainment, instruction, and club fitting/selling.  Determining what launch monitor will be more beneficial to you is dependent on what you are planning to use the monitor for.

Due to some of the added data points, features, and price (all discussed throughout this article) Trackman often is more beneficial for an instruction/club fitting use case or for the serious game improvement use case.  Whereas SkyTrak tends to be more beneficial for personal game improvement and entertainment. Largely due to it's price point, SkyTrak tends to suit the casual golfer or serious amateur. Let's dig in further!

Trackman vs SkyTrak Benefits Comparison

SkyTrak vs Trackman - Data and Accuracy

Both SkyTrak and Trackman provide users with technology you can count on.  SkyTrak is a camera-based launch monitor and generates high-speed images to track things like ball speed, spin rate, and launch angle. With this data the software is then able to accurately provide other data points such as carry/total distance, roll, offline, flight path, club head speed, and angle of descent.

Trackman now combines photometric technology with existing Dual Radar Technology. As the name suggests, it uses two radars to track everything going on during your shot.  One radar system tracks everything the club does before, during, and after impact. The other radar system tracks the full ball flight - from launch to landing and everything in between. In addition to this, Trackman uses patented high-end optics for data you can trust.

Trackman has made a name for itself as the ‘best of the best’ largely because it is used by many professionals on tour.  As far as launch monitors go, you can’t really get too much more accurate than Trackman.

However, when compared side by side SkyTrak holds its own and will absolutely provide golfers numbers that they can trust. It may spit out a mis-read here and there. But considering it's about 1/10th the price, it's amazing that it's even as close as it is!

If your a pro golfer or someone who needs to look at their data with the absolute precision, then Trackman will definitely give you the best of the best. But if you are an amateur on a budget then you will be more than satisfied with SkyTrak and it's performance!

When it comes to data, both SkyTrak and Trackman provide a wealth of data so it may be easier to run through the table on the right (or below on mobile) to compare the data points offered by each product.

Next, both launch monitors have competitions, skills challenges, and player assessments. Finally, both launch monitors also act as simulators giving you the ability to play virtual golf.

Trackman takes it to the next level with a few other features geared towards serious game improvement. The first is putting analysis. Putting often gets forgotten within launch monitors so it's a huge plus that Trackman offers this functionality. Trackman allows you to analyze your putting tempo, launch direction, speed, and more.

Trackman also provides video analysis with a built-in camera and option to connect up to six external cameras. Analyzing your shot data along with your swing takes game improvement to the next level.  Furthermore, the system allows you to compare your swing side by side with their database of tour pro swing videos.  Lastly, Trackman offers custom branding.  Swing videos, screencasts, and reports can all be shared with your name or facility logo.
