The R50 SwingBay® Package is a complete golf simulator room — not a launch monitor with a few accessories bolted on. The Garmin Approach R50 sits at the center of it, doing something no other launch monitor does: running full simulator software natively on a built-in 10" touchscreen, with no PC, phone, or tablet required. Wrap it in the SwingBay® enclosure with a ballistics-grade impact screen, a short-throw projector, and a SwingTurf® mat and you have a room you can step into and start playing the same day everything arrives.
The package is designed so that every component works with every other component — the projector throw matches the enclosure depth, the screen handles the impact, the turf is sized for the hitting area. What sounds like obvious stuff is actually where buying a la carte goes sideways. When you buy the package, you skip that problem entirely. And if you want to add GSPro or E6 Connect down the line, the R50's HDMI port and third-party software compatibility mean your investment carries forward — you'd just need a gaming PC to run it.

No. The R50 runs Home Tee Hero natively — the projector displays the simulation without a PC in the loop. If you want to run GSPro, E6 Connect, or TGC, you'll need a separate gaming PC connected to the R50. Our team can spec the right machine for your software and budget — ask us before you buy.
A Garmin Golf membership ($100/year) is required to access Home Tee Hero's 43,000+ courses and weekly tournaments. Practice mode, shot data, and impact video playback are available without a subscription. Third-party software licenses (GSPro, E6 Connect, etc.) are purchased separately if you go that route.
The 8x10 SwingBay® configuration has an overall footprint of approximately 11'W x 15'D x 8.1'H. The 9x12 configuration requires more depth. The R50 itself has no minimum ball flight requirement — just enough space to swing. If your room dimensions are close, send us the measurements and we'll tell you what fits.
Both screens are ballistics-grade woven polyester. The triple-layer screen offers additional durability and a slightly superior image surface for projection — it's the better choice if you're hitting at high ball speeds or plan to use the room heavily.
