Nylon, Not Polypropylene
THE FIBER REAL PUTTING GREENS ARE BUILT FROM
Most turf sold into simulator rooms is polypropylene, because polypropylene is cheaper to make. Nylon costs more and behaves better. It springs back instead of matting down, it holds its texture under a hitting mat and a chair and a cart, and it does not develop the shiny flattened traffic lane between the mat and the screen that makes a two year old room look tired. At a 63 oz face weight this is a heavier, denser surface than what most sim rooms end up with.

NOTHING TO BRUSH IN, NOTHING TO TOP UP
Plenty of putting surfaces need sand brushed into them to roll properly. That sand settles, needs topping up, and tracks through the rest of your house on the bottom of your shoes. This uses none. The roll comes from the fiber and the 3/8 inch pile height, so what you install on day one is what you play on for the life of the floor.

The roll is a full 15 feet wide. A standard simulator bay is narrower than that, which means your hitting area and your putting area come off one continuous piece. RoS Money Putt is a nylon golf simulator turf that works as both your room flooring and your putting surface. It runs a 3/8 inch pile at a 63 oz per square yard face weight over a stabilized woven backing with a polyurethane coating, and it comes on a 15 foot wide roll cut to whatever length your room needs, from 5 feet to 30 feet in one foot increments. Measure the width of your bay and then how deep you want the floor to run back from the screen. The roll is 15 feet wide, so most rooms use that 15 foot dimension across the bay and choose the length to match their depth. If you fall between two sizes, order up. Trimming a few inches off is easy. Coming up a foot short is not.
It rolls 10 to 11 on a stimp meter with no sand infill, which puts it in the range of a well kept private course green. That figure assumes a flat, solid subfloor. Green speed always depends on what is underneath the turf, so if you are laying it over an uneven slab or a thick pad you should expect some variation. If putting speed is the main reason you are buying, call us and we will talk through your subfloor before you order.
It is not required, but it is the upgrade most people are glad they made. A foam underlayment evens out an imperfect slab, takes the chill out of a basement floor, quiets the room considerably, and lets you cut your hitting mat in so the entire floor finishes at one level instead of stepping up onto the mat.
