Golf Simulator Turf and Flooring
Simulator turf covers the floor around your hitting mat, so the room feels like fairway instead of concrete or carpet. Most home rooms should start with a landing pad around the mat, then go wall to wall if the room is dedicated.

Buying guide
Start with a landing pad
Most home sim rooms should start with a landing pad around the hitting mat. It turns the floor around your hitting position from concrete or carpet into turf, and most buyers building a dedicated room add one. Flex-space rooms, where the floor goes back to other uses, sometimes skip it.
- RoS Landing Pad. A compact coverage zone, made in-house to coordinate with the SwingTurf mat. It is the optional upgrade in our SwingBay and Retractable packages.
- Landing Pad Turf Bundle. 10 by 10 ft of total coverage with about 7 by 7 ft of usable hitting area.
For most home builds, a SwingTurf mat plus the 10 by 10 landing pad covers it.
Going wall to wall
If the room is dedicated and you want the whole floor to feel like fairway, not just the hitting position, look at full-floor turf.
Studio Turf sim flooring kit
Our in-house full-floor kit, designed to coordinate with the SwingTurf mat and landing pad for a seamless install. Many of our Custom Sim Room builds use it, and it is available on its own for DIY builders.
RoS Money Putt Turf
A nylon putting turf with a 63 oz face weight and a 3/8 inch pile. It needs no sand infill and rolls 10 to 11 on a stimp meter. The roll is 15 ft wide and a standard simulator bay is narrower than that, so the floor comes off one continuous piece with no seam in your stance. It comes in Turf Green or Midnight Black, cuts with a utility knife, and lays over concrete, plywood or a compacted aggregate base. Cut a recess for your hitting mat and the floor finishes at one level.
Build up the floor first
Basement slabs are rarely flat and almost never warm. RoS Interlocking Foam Floor Tiles go down under the turf to bridge minor dips and put an insulating layer between the concrete and your feet. They are 3/4 inch high density foam, firm enough to keep putts rolling true, and each 2 by 2 ft tile covers 4 sq ft. The tiles press together by hand and trim with a utility knife. The 5 tile pack covers 20 sq ft, the footprint of a standard 4 by 5 hitting mat.
Keep the build-up in mind for your ceiling. Turf or a foam subfloor raises the floor, so a 10 ft measurement can finish closer to 9 ft once the room is built. Our guide on how to measure your space for a golf simulator covers the rest.
Turf or hitting mat?
This collection is turf and flooring for the room. The surface you hit from is a hitting mat, and those live in golf mats. Not sure what size mat fits? Read what size golf mat do I need. For a dedicated putting surface, see putting greens.
Where this fits
Turf is part of how you build the room, along with screens, enclosures and wall padding. Planning a full room? Start in the Sim Builder, or see custom golf simulator rooms.
Questions
Common questions
Do I need turf around my hitting mat?
It is not required, but most buyers building a dedicated room add a landing pad. It turns the floor around the hitting position from concrete or carpet into turf.
What is the difference between a landing pad and full-floor turf?
A landing pad covers the area around the hitting mat. Full-floor turf like Studio Turf or Money Putt Turf covers the whole room so the floor reads as one surface.
Can I putt on simulator turf?
Yes, on putting turf. RoS Money Putt Turf rolls 10 to 11 on a stimp meter and needs no sand infill.
What goes under simulator turf?
Foam floor tiles bridge minor dips in a slab and add an insulating layer. RoS Interlocking Foam Floor Tiles are 3/4 inch high density foam, firm enough to keep putts rolling true.
Does turf change my ceiling height?
A little. Turf or a foam subfloor raises the floor, so a 10 ft ceiling can finish closer to 9 ft once the room is built.
Is a hitting mat included?
No. This collection is turf and flooring for the room. Hitting mats have their own collection under golf mats.
