Firm, Not Squishy
THE RIGHT DENSITY UNDER A PUTTING SURFACE
Most foam tiling sold into sim rooms is gym flooring, built soft to absorb dropped weights. Soft is the wrong answer under putting turf. A thick, spongy pad swallows the ball and slows the roll, which undoes the whole reason you bought a fast green. These run 3/4 inch at a high density, firm enough to keep your roll honest and forgiving enough to stand on for two hours.
Built To Your Mat Height
A QUARTER INCH PROUD, ON PURPOSE
Do the stack: 3/4 inch of foam plus 5/8 inch of turf puts your floor at 1 3/8 inches. A SwingTurf stand-on mat is 1 5/8 inches, so it finishes a quarter inch above the surface around it. That is deliberate. Mat edges settle and roll down over the first year, and a mat installed dead flush ends up sitting in a dish. A quarter inch proud stays looking right. If you are running a hitting strip instead, set it on a 3/8 inch base and it lands flush with the floor at exactly 1 3/8 inches.
Fixes A Bad Slab
FLATTENS WHAT IS UNDERNEATH IT
Basement slabs are rarely flat and almost never warm. The tile field bridges minor dips and trowel ridges so your turf lays smooth instead of telegraphing every imperfection, and it puts an insulating layer between concrete and your feet. It quiets the room considerably too, which matters more than people expect once a projector fan and a launch monitor are running.
Interlocking, No Tools
PUZZLE EDGES, DOWN IN AN AFTERNOON
Tiles press together by hand. No glue, no fasteners, no underlayment tape. Trim the perimeter row with a utility knife and a straightedge to fit your walls. If you move, it comes up as fast as it went down, which is not true of anything you glue to a slab.
Sized To Your Room
ONE MAT'S WORTH, OR THE WHOLE BAY
Each tile is 2 feet by 2 feet and covers 4 square feet. The 5 tile pack is 20 square feet, which is exactly the footprint of a standard 4 by 5 hitting mat, so it is the right buy if all you want is to build the floor up around your hitting mat. From there the packs scale to 120 square feet, and the price per square foot drops as they get bigger. The more of the room you are doing, the better the number gets.

FREE GROUND SHIPPING, LOWER 48
Order goes in, tiles land at your door in about a week, and ground shipping is on us. If you are ordering turf at the same time expect two deliveries: the tiles come by ground and get there first, the turf follows by freight from the mill and takes 2 to 3 weeks. Lay the tiles while you wait for the turf.
From Our SimSquad
THE UPGRADE PEOPLE SKIP AND THEN REGRET
Almost nobody budgets for the floor underneath the floor. Then they stand on a concrete slab for two hours in January, or they catch a toe on the lip of their hitting mat for the hundredth time, and they call us. We put these under our own demo bays for exactly those two reasons. The thing to resist is grabbing thick gym foam off a big box shelf because it is a few dollars cheaper. It is softer than it looks, and soft foam under a putting green is how a fast surface turns slow.
What are RoS Interlocking Foam Floor Tiles?
These are high density interlocking foam tiles built as a base layer for a golf simulator bay. Each one is 2 feet by 2 feet and 3/4 inch thick, covering 4 square feet, with puzzle edges that press together by hand and no glue or fasteners. They go down over concrete or plywood, level a hitting mat into the surrounding floor, bridge minor slab imperfections, insulate a cold basement and quiet the room. Turf lays directly on top. Sold as single tiles or in room packs, with the per square foot price dropping as the pack gets larger.
Why Put Foam Under Your Turf?
Honest framing: you do not strictly need it. Turf lays fine on bare concrete and plenty of rooms are built that way. What the pad buys you is comfort underfoot, a warmer floor, a noticeably quieter room, and the ability to sink your hitting mat flush instead of stepping up onto it. The mistake people make is reaching for thick gym foam because it is cheap and available. At an inch and a quarter it is too soft, and a soft base is what turns a fast putting surface into a slow one. Three quarters of an inch at a real density is the balance point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Each tile covers 4 square feet, so divide your room's square footage by four and round up. A 15 by 15 bay is 225 square feet, which is 57 tiles. A 15 by 20 bay is 300 square feet, or 75 tiles. Order a few extra for the perimeter cuts, since you will not get full coverage out of every trimmed piece. If you only want to build up under your hitting mat, the 5 tile pack covers 20 square feet, which is a standard 4 by 5 mat exactly.
Not at this thickness and density. That is the reason we stock 3/4 inch rather than the inch and a quarter gym foam that is easier to source. Thick soft foam does slow a green down measurably. If putting speed is your priority, this is the right pad and a flat, solid slab underneath it matters more than anything else.
Yes. A sharp utility knife and a straightedge is all it takes. Most rooms need the perimeter row trimmed. Note that a 15 foot wide bay is 7.5 tiles across, so every row will have one tile cut in half. That is normal and it takes about a minute per tile.
No. The puzzle edges hold them together and the turf laid on top holds the whole field in place. Nothing is fastened to your slab, so it lifts out cleanly if you rearrange the room or move house.
Three quarter inch foam plus five eighths of an inch of turf gives you a 1 3/8 inch finished floor. A SwingTurf stand-on mat is 1 5/8 inches, so it sits a quarter inch above the turf around it. We prefer it that way. Mat edges roll down as they settle, and a mat set dead flush ends up looking sunken after a season. If you are using a hitting strip rather than a full mat, put it on a 3/8 inch base and it finishes flush with the floor.
About a week door to door, with free ground shipping anywhere in the lower 48. If you order turf on the same order the two arrive separately, since the turf ships by freight from the mill and takes 2 to 3 weeks. The tiles will get there first, which works out well since the foam goes down before the turf does.
A garage is fine. We would not put them anywhere they will sit in standing water or take direct sun for long stretches, since foam is not a UV stable material the way the turf is.
