At a 0.496:1 throw ratio the ZH451ST throws a large picture from very close to the screen, which is the whole game in a garage or basement bay. It also keeps the projector out of the ball flight path and off the back of a golfer's swing, which is where longer throw projectors cause trouble.

WHO THE ZH451ST IS FOR
This is the one we point at when the room is short and the budget is real. Half the screen width of throw distance, a laser that outlives the bay, and enough brightness that you do not have to black out the room. It is 1080p, and on an impact screen that matters far less than people expect. If the bay doubles as a media room, step up to 4K. Otherwise this does the job.
What is the Optoma ZH451ST?
The ZH451ST is a 1080p Full HD laser short throw projector built for tight rooms. 4,200 lumens, a 0.496:1 throw ratio, and a laser light source rated for 30,000 hours. It weighs 6.6 pounds and measures about 10.8 by 8.5 by 4.5 inches, so it mounts easily and does not dominate the ceiling.
It replaces the ZH400ST in Optoma's golf simulator lineup, with the same ultra short throw approach and a longer rated laser life.
Why Choose the Optoma ZH451ST?
Straight framing: this is a 1080p projector, not 4K. That is the trade that keeps it affordable, and for a lot of sim builds it is the right one, because on an impact screen at normal viewing distance the resolution difference is far less obvious than the brightness and throw difference.
Choose the ZH451ST if your room is short on depth and you want laser reliability without stepping up in price. Choose a 4K unit instead if you also use the bay as a media room, or if you are running a very large screen where the extra resolution starts to show.

Optoma does not publish lens shift for this model, and the zoom is fixed. It does offer keystone correction of plus or minus 15 degrees horizontally and vertically. That covers normal install variation, but if your mount point is well off center from the screen you want a projector with optical lens shift instead.
